Make your mansion a green giant
(October 05, 2005) Everyone seems to want a big house, but larding on the square footage doesn't mean your home has to be an energy hog.
On Wednesday, October 12, at 7 p.m. the town of Atherton is hosting a free workshop for architects, builders and homeowners on green building techniques to reduce the environmental impact of large homes.
Jennifer Roberts, the author of "Good Green Homes," and "Redux: Designs That Reuse, Recycle And Reveal" will talk about design and construction strategies that save energy and water, how integrated design leads to better homes, and the top 10 green priorities for remodeling or building.
The workshop is to be held at Holbrook-Palmer Park, 150 Watkins Ave. And is sponsored by San Mateo County Recycle Works and the City/County Association of Governments. To register, call Kathy Anderson at 752-0526 or send e-mail to kanderson@ci.atherton.ca.us.
