Sacred Heart Prep revives 'Leader of the Pack'
(October 05, 2005) Sacred Heart Prep's drama department will present "Leader of the Pack: The Ellie Greenwich musical" for two weekends in the new Campbell Center for the Performing Arts on the Atherton school's campus.
Performances will be on Fridays and Saturdays, October 7, 8, 14 and 15, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets at $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors may be purchased at the reception areas of the Main Building and Sigall Building. They may be reserved by e-mailing jloschmann@shschools.org and picking them up at the box office the night of the performance.
The play chronicles the husband-and-wife song-writing team that wrote many of the No. 1 hits of the early 1960s, an era of the girl-group sound as popularized by such performers as the Shangra-las and the Supremes.
"I'm really excited to watch my daughter and her peers perform the songs I loved when I was their age," said parent Nancy Richards. "It always amazes my daughter when she comes home from rehearsal singing, and I start singing along."
Director John Loschmann said he was "very surprised that I knew all the words to these songs after all these years."
