Menlo Watch: Date set for water fluoridation
(October 26, 2005) The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will begin fluoridation of the drinking water for many San Mateo County residents November 1.
The start date was originally September 19, but a nationwide shortage of fluoride prevented complete water fluoridation until early November, officials said.
Local water utilities adopting fluoride include the California Water Service Co. of Bear Gulch and the city of Menlo Park.

Budget survey results delayed
The "your city/your decision" budget survey results will be released later than expected.
San Francisco-based Community Focus, the group hired to conduct the budget outreach process, required more time to finish processing the surveys due to a high number of responses, said Assistant City Manager Audrey Seymour.
Community Focus will issue a full report of the results to city staff in late October or early November, and the information will be released shortly thereafter, said Ms. Seymour.
The report was originally scheduled to be completed October 17 with results released October 27.
Pitching ideas to investors
Venture capitalists, not Menlo Park City Council members, will be sitting in the front of the council chambers on November 2.
Members of FundingPost.com have organized an opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch business ideas to potential investors.
Co-sponsored by the city of Menlo Park, the event includes a seminar led by a panel of 12 investors, followed by a pitching session.
During the session, 40 to 50 people will have three to four minutes each to convince the panel of investors their business ideas are worth a closer look.
The event will be held November 2 from 7:45 a.m. to noon in the council chambers at 801 Laurel St. in Menlo Park.
The cost is $75 for an entrepreneur or investor, and $95 for a service provider.
For tickets and information regarding how to pitch at the meeting, call (800) 461-5509, or go to fundingpost.com, scroll down to "Venture and Angel Investing Events," and click on "Event Registration."
