The public is invited to view and discuss two proposals to modify the design of a planned complex of new buildings at the Portola Valley Town Center.
A special meeting of the Architecture & Site Control Commission is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday, November 7, in the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road.
The topics for discussion may include reducing the amount of developed square footage on the site; considering other building styles; lowering building heights; redesigning the library's main entrance; and considering alternatives for landscaping, fencing and lighting.
"We need to have the participants hear from each other," said Mayor Ed Davis. "We need to find consensus on function -- not just the nature of the buildings, but the activities we want."
Dangerous dogs on council agenda
Changing the law dealing with dangerous dogs will be on the Town Council's agenda this week.
The council will consider an amendment to the animal-control chapter of town code, as proposed by the county, that would clarify definitions of animals considered vicious or dangerous and would establish official procedures -- including euthanasia and neutering -- for dealing with such animals.
Owners of dogs judged to be dangerous would need permits and such dogs would not be allowed in homes in which minors live, said Town Administrator Angela Howard.
Also on the agenda is a proposal to spend $16,000 to move the town's municipal code -- the systematic listing of the town's laws -- online.
Woodside has a link to its code on the town's home page. Portola Valley is considering the same system, said Ms. Howard. The price would include software, a scanner, system training and the scanning of the town's code, she said.
The meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road. For more information, call 851-1701, ext. 10.
