Woodside: Is this an election? Woodside: Is this an election? (October 26, 2005)

There are three names on the ballot, but whether Woodsiders vote for them or not, the three unopposed candidates will likely win four-year terms on the seven-member Woodside Town Council.

Incumbent Deborah C. Gordon is completing her first term representing District 2. Dave Tanner, who resigned earlier this year from his District 1 seat after buying a new home, is running to represent his new neighborhood in District 4. Incumbent Carroll Ann Hodges is running for a third term representing District 6.

Woodside is divided into seven council districts, and Town Council members must live in the district they represent, although they are elected in a town-wide vote. Town policy requires that an election be held, even in unopposed races, to enable write-in candidates to run. So far, no write-in candidates have emerged. The deadline for write-in candidates to register with the county is October 25.
