Caption with photo by Mark Robinson in the November 16, 2005, print edition of the Almanac: Andon Espeseth, 11, of Menlo Park took second place in the Yokohama Karting Championship A&D (Arrive & Drive) division at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. He competed with 17 drivers in a seven-race series from March to October. Go-karts in this class are capable of 65 mph in the straights. Andon's interest is racing was sparked two years ago while attending the U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis.
