Ecumenical Thanksgiving service in Ladera Ecumenical Thanksgiving service in Ladera (November 16, 2005)

Continuing a tradition that extends over two decades, the Ecumenical Thanksgiving Day Service, sponsored by the Portola Valley/Woodside Clergy Association, will be held at the Ladera Community Church on November 24.

The service begins at 9:30 a.m. this year in the Ladera church sanctuary at 3300 Alpine Road in Portola Valley. All are welcome.

"This yearly event gathers the area faith communities in a unique and joyful way," said the Rev. Wayne Dalton, the minister at Ladera Community Church who will give the Thanksgiving message. "We sing, we pray and break bread together in a way that transcends the denominational categories that usually divide us."

Mark Hanson, director of music at the Ladera church, will direct an inter-church choir.

Participating in the service will be clergy and congregations from the six valley churches: Christ Episcopal, Our Lady of the Wayside, Valley Presbyterian, Woodside Priory, Woodside Village and Ladera.

A fellowship time will be held immediately after the service in Peabody Hall with coffee, sweet breads, rolls, and conversation. Child care will be provided.

For more information, call Ladera Community Church at 854-5481.
