Corte Madera Panthers win league championship
(November 30, 2005) Corte Madera School's varsity boys flag football team won the Small School Intermediate League Championship by defeating Armstrong School 28-20 on October 27. The Panthers finished with a 10-0 record.
The school's JV flag football team also brought home a league title after defeating Woodside Priory to claim a share of the championship with the Priory. Coaches were Damon Horn and Loren Jackson.
Varsity coaches are Dan Flahavan, Corte Madera's physical education specialist, and Dave Macomber, who teaches social studies and guides Corte Madera's leadership team.
Made up of seventh- and eighth-graders, the varsity team eked out a win against Armstrong School in the regular season, and after a hard-fought championship game, came out on top by a touchdown.
Team members are: Carter Boyce, Keaton Carano, Patrick Chase, Mark Conrad, Sutton Cowperthwaite, Matt Cox, Joe Davison, Charlie Derwin, Ricky Dolezalek, Nicky Gebhart, Chris Itule, John Jernick, Steven Kappeller, Sahil Khanna, Ryan Lockareff, Matt Lynch, Ian Midiere, Keenan Rehlich, Spencer Rosekrans, Avi Shah, Matt Thomas and Matt Walter.
