Notebook: Relax, you can park overtime downtown Notebook: Relax, you can park overtime downtown (December 21, 2005)

To accommodate holiday shoppers and visitors to Menlo Park, the city is relaxing parking restrictions as it does each year at this time.

Through Monday, January 2, police won't ticket cars that are parked downtown beyond the one or two-hour limits.

Also, the overnight parking ordinance that applies throughout the city won't be enforced until Monday, January 2.

All other parking laws will be enforced, police say.
Council meetings cancelled for holidays

The Menlo Park City Council will not meet on December 20, 27 and January 3.

The next council meeting will be January 10 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at the Civic Center.
Caltrain raises fares

Caltrain is raising its base fare by 5.6 percent on January 1, according to Janet McGovern, Caltrain spokeswoman. The base fare for a one-way ticket will increase 25 cents. Zone charges will not go up.

The change is due to the railroad's budget deficit and higher fuel costs. The increase, expected to raise $1.2 million annually, will be reflected in all tickets, except for the senior/disabled/youth one-way fare. Train times will not change.
