Avoid the 23 -- the annual campaign by San Mateo County 23 law enforcement agencies to spot and remove drunken drivers from the roads -- is under way.

On Saturday, December 17, teams from throughout the county made 103 stops and made five drunken-driving arrests, said Sgt. Mike Amaral of the Menlo Park Police Department.

On Tuesday, December 20, the Redwood City office of the California Highway Patrol says it will deploy a speed enforcement team in the Woodside area on Interstate 280, said Officer Mike Wright of the CHP.
