Community Notebook: Forum on salt pond restoration Community Notebook: Forum on salt pond restoration (January 11, 2006)

People interested in the restoration of the salt ponds ringing San Francisco Bay to more natural habitat are invited to a Stakeholder Forum meeting Thursday, January 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the NASA Ames Research Center's Eagle Room, at Moffett Field in Mountain View.

The meeting will be reviewing alternatives for the long-term restoration and management of thousands of acres of salt ponds that are now part of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Included in the largest wetland restoration project on the West Coast are the Menlo Park salt ponds between Bayfront Park and the Dumbarton Bridge, as well as the pond just south of the bridge.

Also coming up on the next two weekends are salt pond tours sponsored by the refuge. They will take place at Bayfront Park on Saturday, January 14, and Sunday, January 22, from 1 to 3 p.m.

To sign up for the tours, call the refuge at 510-792-0222, ext. 43.

Deputy County Counsel Porter Goltz will help seniors, their caregivers, and others to understand the law and navigate the county's support system for seniors.

For information, call the law library at 363-4913, or visit smcll.org
