PV council may change rules for commissioners PV council may change rules for commissioners (January 11, 2006)

At its meeting on Wednesday, the Portola Valley Town Council may approve new rules for interviewing candidates for the Architectural & Site Control Commission and informing the public about commissioners' term expirations.

The meeting begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, in the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road.

In a previous discussion, the council split 3-2 on changing the routine in which high-performing incumbents wanting another four-year term are reappointed without public notice.

Councilman George Comstock, now retired, and Councilman Richard Merk backed keeping things unchanged, citing the community benefit of insulating such volunteers from competition.

At the meeting, the council will also consider meeting at an earlier time and whether to start enforcing dog leash laws on trails.
