Open space district considers buying Driscoll Ranch
(January 11, 2006) The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District may decide to make the largest purchase in its history at a special meeting Thursday, January 12, at 7 p.m. at the La Honda Elementary School, 450 Sears Ranch Road (off Highway 84 in La Honda).
The district board will consider buying the 3,681-acre Driscoll Ranch from the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) for $9 million.
The Driscoll Ranch, which includes the former Folger and Wool ranches, is a working cattle ranch with a varied landscape and three perennial creeks.
POST purchased the Driscoll Ranch in 2002 for $21 million; a recent appraisal put its value at $25 million, according to a district fact sheet.
For more information, call the district at 691-1200, or visit openspace.org.
