'Great Decisions' group meets in Woodside
A new "Great Decisions" discussion group, which discusses major national and international issues, is meeting in Woodside.
The group will meet for eight weekly sessions, starting Wednesday, February 8, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., in the Guild Hall of the Woodside Village Church at 3154 Woodside Road.
Discussions will cover U.N reform, U.S. and Iran, energy, Brazil, human rights in an age of terrorism, China and India, Turkey, and pandemics and national security.
The cost is $25 to cover study materials and refreshments for the series, sponsored by the Woodside/Portola Valley Rotary Club, Woodside Village Church, and World Affairs Council of Northern California.

Talk on future of fossil fuels
David A. Victor will address the question, "Is There a Future for Fossil Fuels," in a World Affairs Council talk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, in the Los Altos Library at 13 South San Antonio Road.
Dr. Victor, director of Stanford's Program on Energy and Sustainable Development, and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, has published more than 100 articles and books on fossil fuels and the environment.
