People interested in running for a county, state or national office in the June primary election can officially throw their hats in the ring starting Monday, February 13. The filing period ends Friday, March 10.

On June 6, voters will pick candidates to run in November for more than a dozen offices, including the U.S. Senate (Sen. Dianne Feinstein's seat) and the House of Representatives (Rep. Anna Eshoo's seat). At the state level, voters will choose candidates for governor, state senator and the Assembly.

Nearer to home, San Mateo County supervisors Rich Gordon and Jerry Hill face re-election.

Information is available on the county's Web site, shapethefuture.org, including the "Candidate Handbook and Resource Guide" and the election calendar.

The county Elections Division will hold two seminars on "The Mechanics of Running for Public Office" on Wednesday, February 8, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, February 18, at 10 a.m. Both seminars will take place at 555 County Center (at the corner of Bradford Street and Hamilton Avenue) in Redwood City.
