The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office says it has determined that no crime was committed in connection with a Portola Valley woman who claimed to have been shot by a man who broke into her home.
The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the woman in the 100 block of Goya Road who said she had sustained a gunshot wound.
Officers arrived and found the woman to have been shot in the arm but were unable to locate a suspect in the area. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injury, Lt. Ray Lunny said.
The Sheriff's Office said Wednesday evening that the crime as the victim described it had not occurred.

This was apparently a false alarm/false police report. A gun was discharged and a woman did get shot, but there was no intruder or robbery. Not clear what the story really is. Here's the CBS update
