The Peninsula Humane Society will hold the 15th annual Mutt Strutt community dog walk fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo.

The event raises money for animals at the PHS shelter in San Mateo.

Registration and festivities begin at 9 a.m. A 3K walk and an alternative 1K walk start at 11 a.m. There will be vendors, dog contests, prizes and music. In past years, the event has attracted about 400 people and raised about $60,000.

Participants pay a $30 registration fee. The PHS also encourages people to collect pledges. Prizes are given for pledge levels from $100 to $600. The top fundraiser wins a night’s stay at the pet-friendly Stanford Inn in Mendocino. PHS says that last year it took in more than 4,000 stray, injured, abused or abandoned dogs, and for the sixth year straight, found homes for every healthy and adoptable dog.

Coyote Point Park is at 1701 Coyote Point Drive in San Mateo. For more information, contact Dawn Kelsey Fanara at 340-7022, ext. 375, or dkelsey@PeninsulaHumaneSociety.org.
