The struggling Bears had no answer for Stanford-bound Amir Carlisle, a junior running back who carried 16 times for 227 yards and three touchdowns to lead King’s Academy (2-0, 5-1) to an easy PAL Bay Division victory on Friday night in Sunnyvale.

Menlo-Atherton (0-1, 1-5) also gave up 131 yards rushing to Leroy Richardson as King’s Academy averaged 10.6 yards per carry and had five touchdown runs of 30 or more yards behind a dominant offensive line.

Menlo-Atherton’s Cameron Moody rushed for a touchdown, had 34 yards on three rushes and caught three passes for 58 yards to spark the Bears’ effort. M-A quarterback Willie Fonua completed nine of 23 passes for 117 yards and a 19-yard touchdown to Staf Della Morte. Fonua, however, was dropped for a minus 79 yards rushing. M-A gained 223 rushing yards, but netted only 125 against the tough King’s Academy defense.

Michael Brown scored M-A other touchdown on a three-yard run in the fourth to make it a 38-13 games. The King’s Academy quickly erased that score when Carlisle raced 70 yards from scrimmage following the kickoff.
