Saturday: Rare soccer game to be held in Menlo

This story was submitted by Jeanine Morgan, MP Strikers 98B Blue team manager.

The MP Strikers Football Club, based in Menlo Park, will be hosting -- and playing in -- the NorCal State Cup final game this Saturday, Jan. 9, starting at 1 p.m. at Jack Lyle Field in Menlo Park.

This is the boys under 11 NorCal State Cup title game. Lyle Field is at Middle Avenue and Fremont Street.

The MP Strikers 98B Blue Under 11 team, coached by Alessandro Biral, is ranked as one of the top two teams in Northern California. The Strikers will vie for the top spot Saturday when they meet their rivals, PAC Atlas of San Jose.

Both teams earned a berth to the final by topping over 120 other Northern California teams that originally entered State Cup competition.

This match marks not only the first time in Strikers club history and but also in Menlo Park soccer, that any local team has the opportunity to grab the State Cup title.
