Highway 1 reopens after crash

A crash blocked state Highway 1 in both directions in unincorporated San Mateo County at Devil's Slide for nearly an hour Sunday and alcohol may have played a factor in the crash, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported at about 3:50 p.m. The vehicle overturned, trapping the driver inside, according to CHP Officer Nicole Pacheco.

The driver appeared to have only suffered minor injuries in the crash, but was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Pacheco said.

The crash briefly blocked Highway 1 in both directions, but all lanes of the highway were reopened by 4:45 p.m., according to Pacheco.
