The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration's Freedom Train will make its only San Mateo County stop at 10 a.m. Monday at the San Mateo Caltrain station.
The annual event begins at 8:30 a.m. with a pre-program including a continental breakfast before the Freedom Train arrives at 10 a.m., officials said.
Individuals representing San Mateo County, its cities, civic organizations and congregations will host the event, including 2010 honorary Chairman Harold Brooks, the CEO of the Red Cross in the Bay Area.
The county representatives will join the 1,500 Freedom Train riders to the San Francisco MLK Jr. Day Walk to the Yerba Buena Gardens.
Special San Mateo County Freedom Train tickets are sold only at Monday's celebration at the San Mateo Caltrain station, and the Freedom Train tickets are good on any return train that day. Regular Caltrain tickets are not valid.
