M-A boys' basketball survives Terra Nova


Coming off a shocking victory of previously undefeated Burlingame, the Menlo-Atherton boys' basketball team played inspired basketball for the first half before bouncing back with a 45-36 triumph over visiting Terra Nova in a PAL Bay Division game Wednesday night (Feb. 10).

The Bears (5-4, 13-10) took a 26-12 lead into the locker room at halftime. While Terra Nova surged back in the third quarter and outscored the Bears, 16-10, Menlo-Atherton stepped it up in the fourth quarter to post its third straight victory.

Leading all scorers was the Bears' Nils Gilbertson with 17 points, followed closely by Jeff Keller's 16. The Bears continue to be stung by injuries and had only eight players available.
