M-A High School stages 'A Funny Thing Happened ..."

 

The Menlo-Atherton High School Thespians will present "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 18-20, in the Menlo-Atherton performing arts center on the Atherton campus. There also will be a 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, March 13.

The play is a fast-paced musical farce set in ancient Rome. The book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Mandy Peoples is director. Student director is Maya Lozinski. Margaret Ringler and Kendall Dubroff are stage managers.

The Menlo-Atherton band will perform, and the production will be bandmaster Frank Moura's last musical before retiring. Tickets, for sale at the door, range from $5 to $12.
