Trailer accident closed Bayfront Expressway

A tractor-trailer loaded with scrap metal tipped over early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Willow Road and Bayfront Expressway, blocking part of Bayfront Expressway during the morning commute, Menlo Park police said.

Part of the expressway was closed for nearly three hours after the accident, which happened shortly after 6 a.m., according to Sgt. Sharon Kaufman.

The trailer fell onto its side as the driver turned from Willow Road onto Bayfront Expressway headed east, toward the Dumbarton Bridge.

Police believe the trailer tipped over because it took the turn too quickly, according to Sgt. Kaufman.
