Menlo council OKs capital improvement plan


Menlo Park's City Council unanimously approved a five-year capital improvement plan at its meeting Tuesday, March 23.

New projects for the upcoming fiscal year include $500,000 to install sidewalks on Santa Cruz Avenue, $540,000 for safe route to school projects at both Hillview School and Laurel School, $200,000 for "technical expertise and consulting support" for the high-speed rail project, $200,000 to improve the pool at the Onetta Harris Community Center in Belle Haven, and $55,000 for downtown landscaping and irrigation.

The council won't give the project list final approval until it signs off on the budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year.

The city recently switched to a five-year plan for projects rather than a year-by-year plan.
