April 6: Peer counselors are sought

Family Service Agency of San Mateo County is offering two training sessions for volunteers, age 55 and over, interested in becoming senior peer counselors.

The sessions will prepare volunteers for counseling to older adults, who are suffering from such issues as depression, loneliness, isolation, and grief.

A Spanish-speaking session will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, and an English-speaking session will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, April 12, at Family Service Agency, 24 Second Ave. in San Mateo.

To register for the Spanish-speaking session, call Teresa Hurtado at 403-4300, ext. 4321. To register for the English session, call Howard Lader at 403-4300, ext. 4322.
