Menlo College junior Adam Koontz put an exclamation point on an already strong baseball season Tuesday when he tossed a no-hitter at host Occidental in the Oaks' 15-0 seven-inning victory.
Koontz struck out seven and walked two as the right-hander improved to 4-0 over his past five starts with a 1.84 ERA. On the year he's 7-2, with a 3.36 ERA.
Koontz surrendered leadoff walks in the fourth and sixth innings after Occidental's first batter of the game reached on an error.
Menlo (19-14) recorded one double play and otherwise helped prevent any further baserunners.
Chris Mazza, Brad Binder and Will Ireton each drove in three runs as the Oaks roughed up four Tigers' pitchers for 15 runs on 11 hits. Oxy also walked 12 batters and committed four errors.
Menlo-Atherton grad Ty Finley doubled and drove in two runs for the Oaks, who finish their season Saturday with a noon doubleheader against visiting Whitworth.
Joel Hull and Tyler Wilson each added two hits.
