Deadline Tuesday for parcel tax ballots

Semi-official results for the May 4, all-mail special parcel tax elections for the Menlo Park City and the Portola Valley school districts will be posted at 8:05 p.m. on the San Mateo County Elections Office Web site, according to Warren Slocum, chief elections officer.

There's still time for voters in the two school districts who haven't mailed their ballots to drop them off, but they must be received by 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Elections Office at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo.

Alternatively, they may be dropped off at a city hall in the district by the office's closing time on May 4. For the Menlo Park district election, ballots may be dropped off at city hall in Atherton, 91 Ashfield Road; or in Menlo Park at 701 Laurel St. In the Portola Valley district, voters may drop off ballots at the town hall at 765 Portola Road.

In the Portola Valley election, Measure D calls for a four-year, $168 annual parcel tax.

Measure C in the Menlo Park election calls for a seven-year, $178 annual parcel tax. Both require a two-thirds yes vote in order to pass.

Go to Shape the Future for election results on election night.

Voters can also go to that Web site to confirm that the elections office received their voted mail ballot; click on the "Track and Confirm" button.
