Saturday: Mental health conference at Menlo Pres


Menlo Park Presbyterian Church is hosting a community mental health conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the church, 950 Santa Cruz Ave. in Menlo Park.

The keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Siang-Yang Tan, a psychologist, author and professor. His topic is "Understanding Mental Illness: a Comprehensive and Biblical Approach." Dr. Siang-Yang Tan is a professor of psychology in the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. He currently serves as senior pastor of First Evangelical Church in Glendale.

The morning keynote speech will be followed by afternoon workshops on bipolar disorder, suicide prevention, alcohol and the brain, and medications and depression.

The public is invited to attend the event, which costs $25 and includes a box lunch. For more information, call 323-8600.
