Man working in his garage fatally shot

 

Police in East Palo Alto are searching for a suspect who walked into a garage late Friday and fatally shot a man in the head.

Officers went to the 200 block of Gardenia Way when the Shot Spotter alert system registered gunfire in the area just before 10 p.m., according to East Palo Alto police.

Arriving officers found a 50-year-old man lying on the ground of an open garage at a home on the block. The victim had been shot in the head, according to police, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victim was working in his garage when a suspect in dark clothing walked in and fired a handgun, striking the victim in the head. The suspected gunman was last seen running from the garage south on Gardenia Way.

Police have not determined a motive for the killing.
