Early election results show Rich Gordon ahead in the Democratic primary race for the 21st District Assembly race, with Josh Becker in second place, according to reports from San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

At 10:32 p.m. Mr. Gordon, a San Mateo County Supervisor, had 38.61 percent of the votes; Mr. Becker, an entrepreneur and Menlo Park resident, had 31.53; and former Palo Alto councilwoman Yoriko Kishimoto had 29.86 percent of the vote.

The three are running to replace term-out Democratic Ira Ruskin.

Greg Conlon of Atherton is running unopposed for the Republican seat. But because the district is heavily Democratic, the winner of the Democratic primary is almost certain to go to Sacramento in January.
