Saturday: Adopt a pet until midnight


This Saturday (June 19) the Peninsula Humane Society will remain open until midnight during its third annual adopt-a-thon, which seeks to find homes for more than 100 cats, 100 dogs, and a number of other animals.

Also up for adoption are several exotic species, including a ball python, a Goffin's cockatoo, and a macaw named "Jose." The shelter seeks owners with experience with larger exotic animals.

In 2008 and 2009, about 65 animals were adopted during the one-day event.
