Tuesday: Habitat restoration grand opening

Senator Feinstein to join celebration

Save the Bay invites the community to the grand opening of the first completed salt pond restoration on Tuesday (Sept. 7).

U.S Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who helped negotiate the purchase of the sites targeted for restoration, will be on hand with other officials to welcome visitors to the Ravenswood Ponds -- 237 acres of newly restored habitat, which includes 30 large nesting islands for migrating shorebirds, a refuge for snowy plovers, and for human visitors, a trail with two viewing platforms.

The event starts at 10 a.m. at the west end of the Dumbarton Bridge, on the south side of Highway 84.
