Football: Sacred Heart Prep wins season opener

 

The Gators opened their season on the road with a 24-7 victory as senior quarterback John Geary threw for 198 yards on 15 of 23 completions and ran for two touchdowns Saturday in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Colin Terndrup led the SHP rushing attack with 81 yards on 19 carries in addition to catching six passes for another 64 yards.

Bryan Munks had five receptions for 95 yards as the Gators began to establish themselves with the pass.

Sacred Heart Prep also came up big on defense as it held San Lorenzo Valley to just 33 yards rushing while the secondary picked off three passes.
