  1. Here is an account from an eye witness to this tragic event:

    ———–
I unfortunately saw the man right after he was hit. He was crossing on his bike in the crosswalk when he was struck. Me and another woman who had stopped tried to help him. The saddest thing I have ever witnessed. He was breathing and concience for a few minutes with major head trauma but by the time paramedics arrived which was only a few minutes he stopped breathing and had no pulse.

There are a few crosswalks on El Camino that are very dangerous with no indication or warning for motorist to slow down and look for pedestrians and I think maybe we feel if we are in the crosswalk, everyone will see us and stop for us.

What really struck me was he wasn’t wearing a bike helmet and he had a childs bike seat in the back. I know that I’m stating the obvious but please always wear a helmet even if your just riding around the block or to the park. I know I’ve zipped over to the kids school by myself without one thinking it’s pretty tame. Someone lost their dad today and I just can’t get the image out of my head.
Sorry for going on and on.
