Menlo College women's soccer turn pink for a day

Torres, Atthowe are named Cal Pac Conference Players of the Week

The Menlo College's women's soccer team hosts a Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Oct. 23 when the Oaks meet visiting Mills College in a Cal Pac Conference match at 11 am on Wunderlich Field.

The event is designed to help raise awareness of the condition that plagues millions throughout the world.

Fans will receive a pink bracelet, which commemorates the fight against breast cancer. In addition, the Oaks will don pink warm-up shirts and wrist bands. The team will also be selling pink t-shirts with proceeds donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation

"Menlo's women's soccer program is happy to support such a worthy cause as the fight against breast cancer," Menlo coach Scott Myers said. "It is a disease that each of us may be faced with in some manner in the future or have faced in the past. The more awareness, and the more people involved in the search for the cure, the sooner it will be found. We are proud to wear pink, and we hope you will come and support the cause with us on Oct. 23."

According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation web site, "More than 25 million people have been diagnosed (with breast cancer) and 10 million could die in the next 25 years without the cures."
