Atherton cancels Oct. 16 council meeting

Atherton has postponed a special City Council meeting set for this Saturday, Oct. 16, to a date uncertain, Deputy City Clerk Theresa DellaSanta said today.

The meeting had been scheduled to review resumes of candidates for interim city manager, but Mayor Kathy McKeithen extended the deadline to submit an application for the position to Oct. 29, Ms. DellaSanta said. A meeting for the council to review the applications will be scheduled soon after, she said.

The council decided to appoint an interim manager to head operations in Town Hall after current city manager Jerry Gruber leaves. Mr. Gruber resigned his position, effective Oct. 22.

Appointing an interim manager will allow the town to take its time in finding a permanent city manager in a process that will include appointing a citizens committee to help interview the council-chosen finalists among candidates.
