Tonight: Candidates forum for supervisor, state Assembly

A candidate forum for the Nov. 2 elections for county supervisor and the state Assembly is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in San Mateo at the St. Bartholomew Parish Community at the corner of Alameda de las Pulgas and Crystal Springs Road.

The forum is sponsored by the St. Bartholomew's Social Justice Committee and is expected to include Don Horsley and April Vargas, candidates for supervisor of District 3 in San Mateo County; Rich Gordon, Greg Conlon and Ray Bell, candidates for the 21st Assembly District; and candidates for the 19th Assembly District.

"So much of what we hear from and about candidates arrives through paid media," said a statement from the committee. "We feel that it's important that voters ... get a chance to hear what each candidate would do regarding critical issues such as education, housing, and the state budget."
