Submitted by Adam Greenlow of Menlo Park, a player on the Junior Midgets team and an eighth-grader at St. Raymond School.

The Menlo-Atherton Vikings teams of the Pop Warner football league played their eighth and final games of the regular season against the Morgan Hill Raiders. The games were played at Menlo-Atherton High School on Oct. 23 and 24 in the pouring rain. All players named are with the Vikings.

Mitey Mites (8/9 year-olds): The Mitey Mites played a tough game, but unfortunately lost. Darnell Ellis and Justin Sinclair had exceptional games running the ball. They both scored on 40-yard runs. Ezra Bazan had another stellar game on the defensive side, with many tackles and a few sacks. Caleb Medoza had a solid game on the defensive line. The final score was 30-12.

Junior Pee Wees (10/11 year-olds): In a battle for the third seed of the playoffs, the JPW team triumphed over the visiting Raiders. The offensive line was led by Bryan Kang, Christopher Brugger, James Wanger, and Zachary Drevno. They cleared the way for the scoring run plays. The Vikings, who are now 7-1, won the game 26-6.

Pee Wees (11/12 year-olds): The Pee Wees lost in a very close game, 12-7. Joshua Towers scored during the Vikings' opening drive. This gave M-A a one point lead at the half. After the opposing team scored, the Vikings got the ball on their 8-yard line with four minutes left in the game. They drove the ball all the way to the 25-yard line, but could not convert because of penalties. Will Ritchey, who threw many spectacular passes during this drive, was forced to throw a last second pass that was not completed. Fitzroy Mason and De'Maurier Jackson had terrific games as defensive linebackers.

Junior Midgets (12/13 year-olds): The Junior Midgets won 24-8, and are now 7-1. On the first possession, the Vikings drove the ball downfield on a 60-yard drive capped by a David Teu touchdown, led by Sean O'Keefe's blocking. After an onside kick was recovered by Sam Ferguson, Manupo Turituri busted a 40-yard score. David Teu sealed the game with another touchdown. The front line consisting of Jack Beasley, Philip Myers, and Jose Varela pushed the team to victory.

Midgets (13/14 year-olds): The Midgets lost against a very good team, 30-0. Andrew Robinson, Matt Odell, Benjamin Burr-Kirven, and Jayshawn Puckett all played excellent games. Malcom Gates had an outstanding game with many 40 to 50-yard runs. Shea Summers had many touchdown-saving tackles.
