Las Lomitas school board: Jaquith, Siegel elected; third spot too close to call

Ann Jaquith and Jay Siegel were elected Tuesday to four-year terms on the school board of the Las Lomitas Elementary School District. The third spot is too close to call and could change when all ballots -- including absentee ballots dropped off on election day -- are counted

Four candidates contended for three seats. The count, with all precincts reporting, is: Ann Jaquith, 2,055; Jay Siegel, 1,742; Richard Ginn, 1,586; and Mark Reinstra, 1,504.

Ms. Jaquith, an educator and educational researcher at Stanford University, will be the only board member with a background in education.

Mr. Siegel, appointed to the five-member school board in 2009, was the only current board member running.

Mr. Ginn, who has been a volunteer coach for his son's soccer team, applied for a board seat in 2009 when a trustee resigned, but wasn't chosen. He works in the financial industry.

Mr. Reinstra, who has volunteered in the classroom and with the Las Lomitas Education Foundation, is an attorney.
