Lapdog attacked, killed near Woodside School

Woodside resident Linda Bleich lost a good friend on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 28, when a large dog attacked and killed her Shih Tzu lapdog while they were taking a walk near Woodside Elementary School.

Ms. Bleich related a brief account of the incident in an e-mail to The Almanac.

The large dog initiated what Ms. Bleich called an unprovoked attack and had been on a leash and in the company of a man believed to be about 60 years old, balding and wearing a "greenish" anorak -- a hooded jacket.

The man seemed drunk and fled with the large dog after it broke off the attack, Ms. Bleich said.

A deputy from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is looking for the man and has a few leads, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Ray Lunny.
