Saturday: Creek bed planting in Portola Valley

Sausal Creek, which runs through the Portola Valley Town Center, is in need of more native plants in its corridor. A community planting event is set for tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 765 Portola Road.

The event is being sponsored by the environmental activist organization Acterra, based in Palo Alto, and the San Francisquito Creek Watershed Project.

The 280-foot section of the creek that is above ground at Town Center was liberated from a culvert in 2008 into an architecturally designed bed that had been planted with a selection of native plants.
