Evelyn, who is 4 1/2 and lives in Woodside, read "Bark, George" by Jules Feiffer to Max, a Peninsula Humane Society therapy dog.

The dog heard from five children on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Portola Valley library.

The Humane Society is making monthly visits to libraries and inviting children who may find reading to a friendly dog helpful in improving their skills.
