Meditation in Ladera

The Flowing Waters Sangha, a meditation group in Ladera, will host a free introduction to Mindfulness Meditation for newcomers from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at 160 Erica Way in Ladera. No background in meditation is needed and instruction in meditation techniques will be provided.

Flowing Waters Sangha practices meditation in the tradition of Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, author of numerous books, who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967 by Martin Luther King Jr. Flowing Waters Sangha was founded in 2006 by Birgitte Moyer-Vinding and David Oswald. It meets Sunday mornings in the founders’ home at 160 Erica Way.

The focus of the practice is peace, understanding, compassion, and love, says Ms. Moyer-Vinding. Typically, a morning’s practice includes sitting and walking meditation, readings, and thoughtful sharing, she says.

For more information about Flowing Waters Sangha and the Feb. 26 introduction to meditation, e-mail the founders at bpmoyer@earthlink.net or call 854-4157.
