Burglary reported at Menlo Park Presbyterian

A burglary and associated loss of about $12,900 has left the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church at 950 Santa Cruz Ave. without its electronic device that controlled the church lights, according to a March 5 police report.

Police investigators have no idea how many people might have been involved in the burglary, Menlo Park Police Department spokeswoman Nicole Acker told the Almanac. The police report shows no indication of fingerprints having been found at the scene, she said.

The church was undamaged. Like many churches, this one was unlocked and open to the public from time to time, Ms. Acker said.

Police believe the burglary occurred between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, and 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4.

This is a very poorly-written article that leaves more questions than answers.

What exactly is this $12,900 device? How big is it? Was it bolted down or is it more like a television remote control somebody left on a church pew?

What use is this device to the thief?

Something doesn't smell right about this. Maybe it was an inside job?

Dear Orly,
God "watches" but rarely interferes. It's called "free will" my friend. You have free will to steal, kill, lie, or other of mankinds failures, or in your case, just be plain rude. God still loves you in spite of yourself.

Wow. Now things are so bad, or some people are so brazen, that they steal from the church. Theft of the property is no different than taking tithes out of the basket. Pretty disgusting. Who in the heck would do something like this!?

Bigger than a breadbox? Of course there are no fingerprints - the device with the fingerprints was taken away!
