Retired firefighter Jerome Peters has done acrylics of fire engines and helmets, but now gravitates toward Chevys and Fords, says Rebecca Wallace in her Ad Libs blog on local arts and entertainment.

A show of his series of paintings called "Old Trucks" opens April 1 at the Portola Art Gallery in Menlo Park.

There will be a reception for the artist on Saturday, April 2, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The gallery is located at 75 Arbor Road in the Allied Arts Guild complex in Menlo Park.

Mr. Peters served with the Menlo Park Fire Protection District for several years.
