Tonight: Boys, girls, and hoops

Parks and Rec Commission considers mixed gender teams

Should girls be able to sign up for two spots on a 15-member boys basketball team? The Parks and Recreation Commission will weigh in on that question during its meeting on Wednesday, April 20.

The proposed policy would let up to two girls opt-in to joining the city's youth basketball team for boys. Meetings will be held in May to collect feedback from coaches and team coordinators, and the rest of the community will get a chance to comment in September before the policy goes to Community Services Director Cherise Brandell for approval.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center at 700 Alma St.
