Those were the days

 

John and Frank Merrill -- and a stuffed monkey astride their pet dog Julia Whoopus -- are ready for their roles in a 1920s-era child circus held in Atherton.

The boys' parents, Charles and Phyllis Moulton Merrill, and their families were longtime Atherton residents.
