East Palo Alto police are searching for two men suspected of killing a three-month-old infant and seriously injuring his mother and father this morning, a police officer said.
The boy and his parents were shot while driving in a vehicle in the 400 block of Wisteria Drive at about 12:50 a.m., acting Capt. Jeff Liu
said. They were leaving a baby shower when two men in dark clothing fired multiple shots at the vehicle, police said.
All three were taken to Stanford Hospital, but the three-month-old boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at about 2:15 a.m.,
according to police. He was shot in the head, police said.
The couple's 3-year-old son was also in the car. He was reportedly unharmed.
The infant's parents suffered serious gunshot wounds that are not life threatening, police said. Both of them are 22 years old and from Redwood City. Police are not releasing their names at this time.
The two suspects are described as men wearing dark-hooded sweatshirts that were seeing fleeing from the scene, Liu said. The men were specifically firing at the victims' vehicle, he said.
Police Chief Ron Davis announced a $25,000 reward for any information that could lead to the suspects' capture. Police chaplains conducted a vigil on the block where the shooting occurred Sunday afternoon.
Anyone with information about the triple shooting is encouraged to call or send a text message to East Palo Alto police at (650) 409-6792.
