Aldo Cominoli purchased this property at Woodside and Whiskey Hill roads in 1941 and opened the Pioneer Hotel in 1946. In its heyday the hotel was the place to go for dinner and dancing. It is now owned by the Gilbert family and remains a lively saloon, offering music and dancing Tuesday through Sunday. This photo is from the 1960s. Photo courtesy Jac Audiffred Collection.
